About Patuakhali

The Patuakhali is called “SagorKonna”, which means “Daughter of Sea”. It is watered by the Bay of Bengal.

 

The three sides of Patuakhali city is surrounded by rivers. Among them two major rivers are Laukathi and Lohalia, which are directly connected with the Bay of Bengal. The city also has an inland airport used to transporting and traveling of the citizens across the country.

 

Agriculture is the profession of the most of the people. Fishing is also a prominent profession of this district. Thousands of boats go into the deep sea to fish and come back with tons of fish. Paddy, Jute, and different types of vegetables are the main product of agriculture sector.

 

There are 8 Upazilas in this district. They are:

About Dhaka

Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh and the principal city of Dhaka Division. Dhaka is a megacity and one of the major cities of South Asia. It is located on the banks of the Buriganga River. Dhaka, along with its metropolitan area, has an estimated population of over 12 million in 2008, making it the largest city in Bangladesh. It is the 9th largest city in the world and also 28th among the most densely populated cities in the world.

Dhaka is the commercial heart of Bangladesh Half the workforce is employed in household and unorganized labour, while about 4,000,000 work in the textile industry. Even so, unemployment remains high at 23%.

Dhaka was established in 1772. The district consists of 46 upazilas/thanas, 86 unions, 974 mauzas, 1999 villages, 1 City Corporation, 92 City Wards, 855 City Mahallas, 3 paurashavas, 27 wards and 133 mahallas.
